Plan five dinners around what you already have
Try a simple grocery-budget routine using the weekly meal planner.

Check the fridge before choosing dinners
Write two or three things you’d like to use up in the Use first box. If you have spinach, carrots and cooked rice, for example, the spinach can go into pasta one night and fried rice the next.
Plan five dinners and shop for the gaps
Fill the dinner column with five meals you know you’ll make. Leave a night open for leftovers or a change of plans. Check what’s already in the cupboard before adding the missing ingredients to the grocery list.
Compare your budget with the receipt
Write down your budget and an estimate before shopping. Enter the actual spend after you get home. If you went over, use the weekly review to note what changed and what you could carry into next week.
